Creating organoids from neuroendocrine tumors in patients undergoing surgery
Generation of Organoids of Neuroendocrine Neoplasms of the Gastro-Entero-Pancreatic Tract Obtained From Patients Undergoing Surgery
This study is trying to create mini versions of neuroendocrine tumors from patients' tissues during surgery to see if they can better understand how these tumors behave and respond to treatments.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to generate organoids from tumor and surrounding healthy tissue collected during surgery for patients diagnosed with gastro-entero-pancreatic neoplasms. The study will assess the feasibility of preparing these organoids to better mimic the original tumor environment. By utilizing standard clinical practices, the research seeks to establish a reliable model for future investigations into treatment responses and tumor biology.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old with a confirmed diagnosis of gastro-entero-pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone previous chemotherapy treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance personalized treatment strategies for patients with gastro-entero-pancreatic neoplasms.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of generating organoids from tumor tissues is gaining traction, this specific study represents a novel application in the context of gastro-entero-pancreatic neoplasms.
