What this trial studies

This project aims to establish a cancer registry specifically for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) specimens to facilitate research and identify additional risk factors associated with the disease. It will involve collecting tissue and blood samples from patients of Armenian descent who have a confirmed diagnosis of HCC, along with their clinical history and other relevant data. The study will gather information from eight institutions in Armenia, targeting a total of 500 patients to create a comprehensive dataset for future research and analysis.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients of Armenian descent with a biopsy-confirmed diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have a confirmed diagnosis of HCC or are unable to provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could enhance understanding of hepatocellular carcinoma and lead to improved prevention and treatment strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While similar tissue registries have been established for various cancers, this specific initiative for hepatocellular carcinoma in Armenia is relatively novel.
