Creating a registry for personalized medicine in urological cancer patients using circulating tumor DNA

Development of Urologic Registry for Personalized Medicine in Patients With Urological Malignancy by Analyzing Circulating Tumor DNA

Observational Yonsei University · NCT04197414

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the usefulness of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in the detection and monitoring of urological malignancies, including prostate, renal cell, bladder, and ureter cancers, within the Korean population. By analyzing ctDNA from plasma and urine samples, the study seeks to build a comprehensive database that can enhance diagnosis, track disease progression, and assess therapeutic responses. The research will focus on patients who have undergone surgeries for these cancers at Severance Hospital from December 2019 to November 2029, with the goal of developing an optimized ctDNA platform for personalized medicine.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with urological malignancies who have undergone surgery at Severance Hospital and consented to participate.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have urological malignancies or those who do not agree to participate in the study will not benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate and personalized treatment strategies for patients with urological malignancies.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of circulating tumor DNA in urological malignancies is still emerging, similar approaches in other cancer types have shown promising results, indicating potential for success in this area.
