What this trial studies
This project aims to enhance the effectiveness of an online couples weight loss program by employing the Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST). The study will test four different strategies alongside a core intervention that includes dyadic action planning, joint feedback on goal progress, autonomy support training, and modifications to the home environment. Both partners in a couple will participate, focusing on their combined efforts to achieve weight loss and improve health outcomes. The program is designed to be conducted entirely online, utilizing mobile health technology for support and engagement.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are married or cohabitating couples with a BMI between 25-55 who are English-speaking and have access to a smartphone and the internet.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to walk 2 blocks without stopping, currently undergoing weight loss treatment, or have certain medical conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could lead to more effective weight loss outcomes for couples, improving their overall health and well-being.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using mobile health interventions for weight loss, but this specific approach focusing on couples is relatively novel.
