What this trial studies

This is a randomized, parallel-group feasibility trial enrolling 30 male juveniles (ages 11–17) housed in a correctional institution in Lahore. Participants will be randomly assigned 1:1 to a structured Correctional Management Plan or to routine institutional management, with outcomes measured at baseline and immediately post-intervention. The intervention arm receives 15 group sessions (twice weekly, 90–120 minutes) delivered by a qualified psychologist over about 7–8 weeks; the control arm receives standard care. Primary outcomes focus on feasibility metrics (recruitment, retention, adherence, fidelity, and acceptability) and secondary outcomes explore preliminary changes in psychological and behavioral measures using standardized self-report instruments.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are male juvenile offenders aged 11–17 who are currently residing in the District Jail, Lahore, can understand Urdu, and can provide informed assent to participate in group sessions.

Not a fit: Those with severe psychiatric conditions requiring immediate intensive treatment, significant cognitive or developmental impairments, current enrollment in another structured psychological program, or medical/behavioral issues that preclude safe participation are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could offer a practical, structured approach that improves behavioral and psychological outcomes and informs scalable rehabilitation practices in correctional settings.

How similar studies have performed: Related cognitive-behavioral and structured correctional programs have shown some positive effects in juvenile populations, but randomized feasibility testing within incarcerated settings and the local context remains limited.
