What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the additional effects of correcting forward head posture on individuals suffering from temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD). Participants will be assessed for jaw pain and function, then randomly assigned to receive either standard treatment or treatment combined with a new device designed to correct head posture over a six-week period. After the treatment, researchers will compare the outcomes between the two groups to determine if posture correction leads to improved jaw characteristics. The study seeks to clarify the relationship between forward head posture and TMD, which has been previously suggested but not thoroughly investigated.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with mild to moderate myogenic TMD who also exhibit forward head posture.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of head, neck, or TMJ trauma or those who have undergone TMJ surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new approach to treating temporomandibular dysfunction by addressing underlying postural issues.

How similar studies have performed: While previous studies have suggested a link between forward head posture and TMD, this specific approach of combining posture correction with TMD treatment is novel and has not been extensively tested.
