What this trial studies

This observational survey asks adults with COPD about their beliefs, experiences, and use of traditional and complementary medicine (TCM/CAM). Eligible participants are age 18 or older, have a COPD diagnosis, and can be contacted and communicate; those unable to communicate are excluded. Data will be collected at Kutahya Health Sciences University using interviews or questionnaires and analyzed to describe prevalence, reasons for use, and patterns related to nursing and holistic care. Findings are intended to inform culturally sensitive care and caregiver support strategies for people with COPD.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults (18+) with a diagnosed COPD who can be contacted and are able to communicate are ideal candidates for this study.

Not a fit: People under 18, those without COPD, or those unable to communicate are unlikely to benefit and are not eligible for participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help clinicians and caregivers better align nursing and holistic care with patients' cultural preferences and common CAM practices.

How similar studies have performed: Previous survey studies in other countries have commonly found substantial use and interest in complementary medicine among people with chronic respiratory conditions, though local data are limited.
