What this trial studies

This observational study evaluates the impact of a 10-week program where older adults engage in online conversations about arts and culture with international university students. Participants, who live in subsidized housing, will meet weekly for discussions lasting 30 minutes to an hour. Surveys will be administered before and after the program, along with an exit interview to assess changes in wellbeing. The goal is to foster intergenerational connections and enhance the participants' quality of life.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are older adults aged 60 and above who live alone in subsidized housing and can engage in conversations.

Not a fit: Patients who are non-English speakers or have significant sensory deficits may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could improve the wellbeing and social engagement of older adults.

How similar studies have performed: While similar intergenerational programs have shown positive outcomes, this specific approach focusing on arts and culture with international students is relatively novel.
