Comprehensive database for Alzheimer's and related memory disorders
Arizona Alzheimer's Disease Core Center
This study is trying to build a detailed database of people with Alzheimer's, mild cognitive impairment, and healthy older adults to see how their memory changes over time and to find out who might be at risk for Alzheimer's.

What this trial studies
This project aims to create a detailed clinical database of patients with Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, and age-matched normal controls. Participants will undergo annual assessments that include neurological examinations, neuropsychological testing, and genetic screening. The study also plans to conduct autopsies to confirm diagnoses in patients with dementia and mild cognitive impairment, as well as in cognitively normal elderly individuals. The goal is to identify individuals at genetic risk for Alzheimer's disease and to provide longitudinal data on cognitive health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment or dementia, as well as cognitively normal elderly individuals at genetic risk for Alzheimer's.
Not a fit: Patients with non-neurological medical conditions that interfere with cognition may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of Alzheimer's disease and improve early detection and intervention strategies.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies focusing on longitudinal assessments and genetic screening in Alzheimer's have shown promise, indicating that this approach is supported by previous research.
Eligibility criteria
