What this trial studies

This observational case series collects routine clinical data and patient questionnaires from consecutive people with Parkinson's or Parkinsonism who attend a charitable complementary medicine neurodegenerative disease clinic in London. Care is delivered alongside patients' usual medical treatments and may include homeopathy, herbalism, hypnosis, healing, and self-help advice on lifestyle, mindfulness, or diet, with follow-up visits about every three months. There is no experimental intervention or change to standard care beyond routine clinic practice, and remote 1.5-hour consultations via a secure Zoom platform are offered when travel is not possible. The aim is to document patient experiences and outcomes over time to improve understanding of complementary therapy use in Parkinson's disease.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: People with a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease or Parkinsonism who can attend the Feldy Community Centre clinic in London or join remote appointments, and who continue their usual medical care, are eligible.

Not a fit: People needing acute medical assessment, those with other neurodegenerative diseases, or those without a PD/Parkinsonism diagnosis are not included and are unlikely to benefit from this observational documentation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the project could give patients and clinicians better information about how complementary therapies are used and whether patients report symptom or quality-of-life changes.

How similar studies have performed: Previous research on complementary therapies in Parkinson's is limited and mixed, with small studies or anecdotal reports but no definitive evidence of benefit for the specific therapies used here.
