What this trial studies
This study aims to compare the effects of Xbox Kinect Sports (XKS) and Nintendo Switch Sports (NSS) on body composition and physical performance in physically inactive older women. It employs a randomized controlled trial design with three parallel groups: XKS, NSS, and an inactive control group. Participants will be assessed on various physical performance metrics, including hand grip strength and timed walking tests. The study will follow CONSORT guidelines and utilize a double-blind approach for both participants and raters.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are older women aged 60 to 75 who are physically inactive but independent and able to participate in the interventions.
Not a fit: Patients with disabling diseases, musculoskeletal injuries, or those undergoing rehabilitation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance physical activity engagement and improve health outcomes in older women.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored the impact of video games on physical activity, this specific comparison of XKS and NSS in older women is relatively novel.
