Comparing video laryngeal masks and endotracheal tubes for laparoscopic gallbladder surgery
Video Laryngeal Mask Versus Endotracheal Tube in Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Surgery Under General Anesthesia: a Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial
This study tests whether using a video laryngeal mask is quicker and safer than an endotracheal tube for managing airways in patients having laparoscopic gallbladder surgery.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of using a video laryngeal mask airway compared to an endotracheal tube for airway management in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The primary focus is on comparing the time required to secure the airway with each method. By analyzing these two approaches, the study aims to determine which method is more efficient and potentially safer for patients during surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients over 19 years old who are scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Not a fit: Patients with a high risk of aspiration, difficult airway conditions, obesity, or tooth mobility may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved airway management techniques, enhancing patient safety and recovery during laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored airway management techniques, but the specific comparison of video laryngeal masks and endotracheal tubes in this context is relatively novel.
