Comparing underwater endoscopic mucosal resection and hot snare polypectomy for large colorectal polyps
Underwater Endoscopic Mucosal Resection Versus Metal Clips With Hot Snare Polypectomy for Resection of Big Pedunculated Colorectal Polyps: A Randomized Controlled Trial
This study is testing which method, underwater endoscopic mucosal resection or hot snare polypectomy, works better for safely removing large colorectal polyps in adults aged 18 to 75.

What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates two techniques for the removal of large pedunculated colorectal polyps: underwater endoscopic mucosal resection (UEMR) and hot snare polypectomy with metal clips. The study aims to determine which method is more effective in preventing bleeding and ensuring complete resection. Participants will be patients aged 18-75 undergoing endoscopic resection at the First Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University from October 2023 to August 2026. The trial will assess the safety and efficacy of these interventions in a controlled setting.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-75 who are scheduled for endoscopic resection of small to medium pedunculated polyps.
Not a fit: Patients with malignant polyps, severe chronic diseases, or those on anticoagulant therapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved techniques for safely removing large colorectal polyps, reducing the risk of bleeding and complications.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that underwater endoscopic mucosal resection is safe and effective for treating colorectal polyps, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
