Comparing two types of wrist movement after ligament reconstruction
Scapholunate Ligament Reconstruction: Early Dart Throwing Motion Versus Motion in Anatomical Planes

What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the outcomes of two different rehabilitation approaches following scapholunate ligament reconstruction at Balgrist University Hospital. Patients will be randomly assigned to either early dart throwing motion mobilization or traditional anatomical plane mobilization starting from the second week post-surgery. The study aims to evaluate pain, strength, and mobility outcomes one year after the operation. By focusing on the dart-throwing motion, which is crucial for daily activities, the trial seeks to determine the most effective rehabilitation strategy for patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who are undergoing scapholunate ligament reconstruction at Balgrist University Hospital.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age, those who refuse participation, or pregnant individuals may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved rehabilitation protocols that enhance recovery and functional outcomes for patients undergoing wrist ligament reconstruction.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using dart throwing motion for rehabilitation is gaining attention, this specific comparison of mobilization techniques is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
