What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of the North Polar Tube versus standard spiral tubes for nasotracheal intubation in pediatric patients undergoing general anesthesia for dental procedures. A total of 96 patients aged 3-18 will be randomly assigned to receive either type of tube during their intubation. The study will monitor vital signs and record any complications such as epistaxis or difficulty during the intubation process. The goal is to determine which tube provides a safer and more efficient intubation experience.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 3-18 years with no facial anomalies and classified as ASA1-2.

Not a fit: Patients with facial anomalies or those classified as ASA3-4 will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved safety and comfort during nasal intubation in pediatric patients.

How similar studies have performed: There is limited comparative research on this topic, making this approach relatively novel.
