Comparing two types of nerve blocks for pain relief after ACL surgery
Geniculate Nerve Block Versus Adductor Canal Block for ACL Reconstruction Surgery
This study is testing whether a new type of nerve block for pain relief after ACL surgery works better than a different type to help patients recover comfortably and regain strength.

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of genicular nerve block (GNB) versus adductor canal block (ACB) for managing postoperative pain in patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either GNB or ACB, both administered under ultrasound guidance using Ropivacaine. The study aims to determine which nerve block provides better analgesia without compromising quadriceps strength, facilitating early rehabilitation. Postoperative pain management will also include additional analgesics to ensure patient comfort.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients aged 18 to 50 scheduled for ACL reconstruction surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with conditions such as peripheral neuropathy, diabetes, or chronic pain states may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved pain management strategies for patients undergoing ACL reconstruction, enhancing recovery and rehabilitation.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for both genicular nerve blocks and adductor canal blocks in similar contexts, suggesting potential efficacy for this approach.
