Comparing two types of laryngoscopes for intubation in thoracic surgery patients
Comparison Between McGrath and Macintosh Laryngoscopes for Double-lumen Tube Intubation in Patients Undergoing Thoracic Surgery, A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial

What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to compare the effectiveness of McGrath and Macintosh laryngoscopes in facilitating intubation for patients undergoing thoracic surgery. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: Group A will use the Macintosh laryngoscope, while Group B will use the McGrath laryngoscope. The primary outcomes measured will be the rate of successful intubation on the first attempt and the time taken for intubation with each device. The study will include patients aged 18-65 who are classified as ASA I, II, or III and require one-lung ventilation for elective thoracic surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elective thoracic surgery patients aged 18-65 with ASA physical status I, II, or III.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of difficult intubation, structural airway problems, or those requiring rapid sequence induction may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve intubation success rates and reduce the time required for intubation in thoracic surgery patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies comparing different laryngoscope types have shown varying results, indicating that this approach has been explored but may still yield novel insights.
