What this trial studies
This study examines the effectiveness of two self-esteem interventions, COMET and CBT, in a general psychiatric population. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments for nine weeks, with assessments conducted at baseline, end of treatment, and six months later. The study aims to determine differences in effectiveness on self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and general mental health, as well as the role of imagination in treatment outcomes. Various outcome measures will be utilized to evaluate the results.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with self-perceived low self-esteem who are seeking treatment.
Not a fit: Patients with severe suicidality, acute psychosis, or those unable to identify any positive aspect of themselves may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide effective interventions for individuals struggling with low self-esteem, potentially improving their overall mental health.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown effectiveness in improving self-esteem through similar interventions, making this approach promising.
