What this trial studies

This study aims to compare the effects of perturbation training and functional stabilization training on pain, balance, and performance in athletes suffering from patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). PFPS is a common cause of anterior knee pain, particularly affecting young athletes. The study will involve participants aged 15 to 30 who experience knee pain and have difficulty with activities like running and jumping. A randomized clinical approach will be employed, with interventions including specific training exercises designed to improve balance and reduce pain.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are athletes aged 15 to 30 experiencing anterior knee pain rated between 3 to 10 on the Numeric Pain Rating Scale.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of knee surgery, fractures, or significant intra-articular pathology may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective rehabilitation strategies for athletes with knee pain, enhancing their performance and quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on rehabilitation techniques for knee pain, this specific comparative approach between perturbation and functional stabilization training is relatively novel.
