What this trial studies
This study is a randomized controlled trial aimed at comparing the effectiveness of the active release technique and the hold relax technique in treating patients with Piriformis syndrome. Participants aged 25-55 years will undergo interventions that include electrotherapy alongside the two techniques. Data on pain levels, range of motion, and functional disability will be collected before and after the treatment to assess outcomes. The study will involve informed consent and systematic data collection to ensure reliable results.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 25-55 years experiencing pain and tenderness associated with Piriformis syndrome.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of hip, pelvic, or femoral fractures, malignancies, avascular necrosis of the femoral head, or inflammatory conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide patients with more effective treatment options for managing Piriformis syndrome.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on similar techniques, this specific comparison of active release and hold relax techniques in Piriformis syndrome is relatively novel.
