What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effects of the Manual Diaphragmatic Release Technique (MDRT) versus Chest Wall Expansion Exercises on pulmonary function, chest expansion, and asthma control in patients diagnosed with asthma. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups, with each group receiving specific interventions alongside generalized body stretching. The study will involve a minimum of 2-3 visits per week over a period of four weeks, during which patients will receive education and treatment from a physiotherapist.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are asthma patients aged 35-60 who are non-smokers or ex-smokers for at least six months.

Not a fit: Patients with other cardiac or respiratory diseases, recent thoracic or abdominal surgeries, pregnancy, or mental disorders may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved asthma management and enhanced lung function for patients.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific combination of techniques in this study may be novel, similar approaches have shown promise in improving asthma control and pulmonary function in previous research.
