What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to compare the effectiveness of minimally invasive ridge splitting versus the conventional open flap technique for dental implant placement in patients with alveolar bone loss. Participants will undergo a thorough clinical examination and preoperative imaging to assess bone density and ridge mapping. The surgical procedures will be performed under local anesthesia, with one group receiving the minimally invasive technique and the other the open flap method. The primary outcomes measured will be implant stability and crestal bone loss over time.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with atrophic posterior mandibular ridges suitable for implant placement, specifically those with a ridge width of 3-4 mm and adequate height.

Not a fit: Patients with systemic diseases affecting healing, those on certain medications, or with previous head and neck radiotherapy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved dental implant outcomes and reduced recovery times for patients with bone loss.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with minimally invasive techniques in dental implantology, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
