Comparing two surgical techniques for treating pilonidal sinus disease
Karydakis Flap Procedure Versus Burow's Triangle Advancement Flap Procedure in the Surgical Treatment of Sacrococcygeal Pilonidal Sinus Disease

What this trial studies
This study compares the Karydakis flap and Burow's Triangle Advancement Flap techniques for surgical treatment of pilonidal sinus disease. It focuses on evaluating complications, recovery time, and recurrence rates associated with each technique. The study aims to determine which method is more effective and efficient for patients suffering from this condition. By analyzing these two approaches, the research seeks to provide clearer guidance on optimal surgical practices for pilonidal sinus disease.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-65 with primary pilonidal sinus disease and no active infections.
Not a fit: Patients with recurrent pilonidal sinus cases or significant comorbidities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and faster recovery for patients with pilonidal sinus disease.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing debate about the best surgical technique for pilonidal sinus disease, similar studies have shown varying degrees of success with different flap techniques.
