Comparing two surgical techniques for colorectal cancer
Comparative Study Between End to End Anastomosis With Omega Suture Versus End to Anterior Rectal Wall In Colorectal Anastomosis in Sigmoid and Upper Rectal Cancer

What this trial studies
This study aims to compare two surgical techniques for colorectal anastomosis in patients with sigmoid and upper rectal cancer. It evaluates the end to end anastomosis with omega suture against the end to anterior rectal wall approach, focusing on postoperative outcomes such as anastomotic leakage, bowel function, operative time, and intraoperative blood loss. The research seeks to establish which technique provides better safety and effectiveness in preventing complications associated with colorectal surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old diagnosed with recto-sigmoidal carcinoma or upper rectal cancer.
Not a fit: Patients with recurrent or non-resectable cancer, complicated cancer, or those who have had previous left-sided colorectal or anorectal surgeries may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and reduced complications for patients undergoing surgery for colorectal cancer.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on various anastomotic techniques, this specific comparison of omega suture versus anterior rectal wall is relatively novel.
