Comparing two surgical methods for treating proximal hypospadias with curvature
Preputial Graft Versus Preputial Flap in Treatment of Proximal Hypospadias With Marked Ventral Curvature (a Comparative Study)

What this trial studies
This clinical trial compares two surgical techniques for correcting proximal hypospadias with significant ventral curvature: Bracka's repair using a preputial graft and the Staged Transverse Preputial Island Flap (STPIF) repair using a preputial flap. The study aims to evaluate the functional and cosmetic outcomes of these approaches in patients presenting with this congenital anomaly. By focusing on patients with marked ventral curvature, the trial seeks to address the surgical challenges associated with this condition. The outcomes will help determine which method provides better results for affected individuals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are boys diagnosed with proximal hypospadias and marked ventral curvature greater than 30 degrees.
Not a fit: Patients with insufficient follow-up data, previously circumcised, or those with complex urogenital malformations will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes for boys with proximal hypospadias and significant curvature.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on surgical techniques for hypospadias, this specific comparison of graft versus flap in proximal cases is relatively novel.
