Comparing two methods for meniscus tear surgery
Outcomes of the Nanoscopic Partial Meniscectomy Versus Standard Arthroscopic Partial Meniscectomy
NA · Marshall University · NCT05617807
This study is testing if a new, smaller surgical method for fixing meniscus tears can help men feel less pain and recover faster than the standard surgery.

What this trial studies
This study compares the clinical outcomes of nanoscopic partial meniscectomy with standard arthroscopic partial meniscectomy for treating meniscus tears. The researchers aim to determine if the smaller diameter Nanoscope leads to less pain and quicker recovery for patients compared to traditional methods. Participants will undergo either the nanoscopic or standard procedure, and their outcomes will be analyzed to assess effectiveness. The study is designed to provide insights into the benefits of using advanced technology in surgical procedures.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with an MRI-confirmed meniscus tear who are undergoing primary arthroscopy and have sufficient joint space.
Not a fit: Patients over 60 years of age, those requiring revision surgeries, or those on workers' compensation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and faster recovery times for patients with meniscus tears.
How similar studies have performed: While standard arthroscopy has been the gold standard for decades, the use of nanoscopic techniques is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in this specific context.
