Comparing two methods for coronary artery bypass grafting

A Prospective, Randomized Comparison of Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Based on COmputed Tomography-derived Fractional Flow REserve Versus Angiography (CABG-COREA Trial)

Not applicable Interventional Myongji Hospital · NCT06028165

This study is testing which method of heart surgery works better for people with coronary artery disease by comparing traditional imaging to a newer technique to see how well the grafts stay open over time.

What this trial studies

This trial aims to compare the effectiveness of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) based on conventional coronary angiography versus cardiac computed tomography-derived fractional flow reserve in patients with coronary artery disease. It is a randomized, controlled trial involving 96 patients who will be assigned to one of the two methods for revascularization. The primary focus is on evaluating early and one-year graft patency rates, while secondary outcomes include overall survival and freedom from major adverse cardiac or cerebrovascular events.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients aged 40 to 80 who require CABG due to multi-vessel coronary artery disease.

Not a fit: Patients with severe heart failure, significant arrhythmias, or other serious comorbidities may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved graft patency rates and better clinical outcomes for patients undergoing CABG.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar approaches, indicating potential for success in this trial.
