What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of the Epley Maneuver and the Semont-Plus Maneuver, both combined with Brandt-Daroff exercises, in alleviating dizziness and improving the quality of life for patients suffering from posterior canal Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). It is designed as a randomized control trial conducted in the ENT department of Fauji Foundation Hospital over a six-month period. The study will assess the outcomes based on the severity of dizziness and overall quality of life improvements in participants diagnosed with BPPV.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 20-65 who have been diagnosed with posterior canal BPPV and exhibit recurrent episodes of dizziness.
Not a fit: Patients with negative Dix Hallpike tests or severe dizziness (DHI Scale: 54+) may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide patients with more effective treatment options for managing dizziness and improving their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While there has been extensive research on individual maneuvers for BPPV, the combination of these specific maneuvers and exercises is less explored, making this approach relatively novel.
