What this trial studies

This study involves 50 patients suffering from frozen shoulder, who will be randomly assigned to receive either a suprascapular nerve block or a shoulder anterior capsular block. The shoulder anterior capsular block involves an ultrasound-guided injection targeting the glenohumeral pericapsular space, while the suprascapular nerve block targets the suprascapular nerve using a high-frequency ultrasound probe. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of these two techniques in alleviating symptoms and improving shoulder mobility. The study will not include healthy volunteers, focusing solely on patients with a history of shoulder complaints lasting over six weeks.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years with unilateral frozen shoulder symptoms lasting more than six weeks.

Not a fit: Patients with allergies to local anesthetics, infections at the injection site, or those who have had recent shoulder injections may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide patients with more effective pain relief and improved mobility for frozen shoulder.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on nerve blocks for shoulder pain, the specific comparison of these two techniques in frozen shoulder is relatively novel.
