What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the effects of traditional bathing versus wipe bathing on vital signs and comfort levels in children hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The study will measure physiological parameters such as respiratory rate, pulse rate, and oxygen saturation before and after each bathing method. Children will not be randomized, and all bathing procedures will be conducted by a specialist nurse to maintain consistency. The study is designed to be completed within six months following ethics committee approval.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit who have no contraindications to bathing.
Not a fit: Patients who have contraindications to bathing or whose parents are unwilling to participate will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve comfort and vital sign stability in pediatric patients during bathing procedures.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored bathing methods in pediatric care, this specific approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
