What this trial studies
This study compares the performance and safety of two supraglottic airway devices, the Blockbuster laryngeal mask airway (LMA) and the Baska Mask, in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a common surgical procedure for gallbladder removal, and effective airway management is crucial during general anesthesia. The study aims to evaluate which device provides better airway management and safety outcomes in this surgical context. Participants will be monitored for complications and effectiveness of the airway devices used during the procedure.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-60, of both sexes, with ASA physical status I-II, scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Not a fit: Patients with anticipated difficult airways, renal dysfunction, obesity, or those on certain medications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance airway management during laparoscopic surgeries, leading to improved patient safety and outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown varying success with different supraglottic airway devices, but this specific comparison is novel.
