Comparing surgical repair and functional treatment for proximal ACL tears
Comparison of Surgical Repair Versus Functional Treatment in Patients With Proximal ACL Tear
GCS Ramsay Santé pour l'Enseignement et la Recherche · NCT06178484

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the outcomes of surgical repair versus functional treatment in patients with proximal anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears. It aims to determine whether surgical intervention leads to better functional scores and increased sports activity compared to conservative management. The study considers various factors such as patient symptoms, physical examination results, and activity levels to guide treatment decisions. Patients will be followed to assess their recovery and functional outcomes over time.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older with isolated proximal ACL tears who participate in non-contact pivot sports.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of knee surgery, contralateral ACL tears, or those involved in contact pivot sports may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the most effective treatment approach for patients with proximal ACL tears, potentially improving recovery and activity levels.
How similar studies have performed: While there are numerous studies on ACL treatments, this specific comparison of surgical versus functional treatment for proximal tears is less explored, making it a novel investigation.
