Comparing standard and 3D colonoscopy for detecting adenomas in patients with positive fecal tests
Comparison of the Performance Between Conventional Colonoscopy and 3D Colonoscopy in Positive Fecal Immunochemical Test Group: a Multi-center, Randomized Controlled Trial
NA · National Taiwan University Hospital · NCT06678477

What this trial studies
This study compares the effectiveness of conventional colonoscopy with a 3D colonoscopy technique in detecting adenomas in patients who have tested positive on a fecal immunochemical test. The focus is on improving the adenoma detection rate (ADR), which is crucial for preventing colorectal cancer. The study aims to determine if the 3D technology can enhance the detection of non-polypoid lesions that are often missed during standard procedures. Participants will undergo colonoscopy using both methods to evaluate performance differences.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 40 and older who have received a positive result from a fecal immunochemical test.
Not a fit: Patients with contraindications for colonoscopy, a history of colectomy, or inflammatory bowel disease may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved detection rates of pre-cancerous lesions, thereby reducing the incidence of colorectal cancer.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated that advanced colonoscopy techniques can improve adenoma detection rates, suggesting potential success for this approach.
