What this trial studies

This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of three skin closure techniques—adhesive glue, adhesive tape, and sutures—in pediatric surgery patients. The study aims to compare the time taken for skin closure, as well as assess parents' satisfaction, post-operative mental health, wound appearance, and complications associated with each method. Conducted at Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak UKM, it will involve 90 patients aged 18 years or younger undergoing clean or clean contaminated surgeries. The trial will run from August 26, 2024, to May 31, 2025.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are pediatric patients aged 18 years or younger undergoing clean or clean contaminated surgeries with wound lengths of 1-10 cm.

Not a fit: Patients with scrotal or penile incisions, contaminated wounds, or those with known allergies to cyanoacrylate may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved skin closure techniques that enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored various skin closure techniques, this specific comparison of adhesive glue, tape, and sutures in pediatric patients is relatively novel.
