What this trial studies
This research evaluates the effectiveness of sensory integration therapy versus balance board training in improving balance and mobility among older adults living independently. Participants will undergo specific training sessions aimed at enhancing their sensory processing and balance capabilities. The study will assess balance improvements using standardized tests before and after the interventions, focusing on individuals aged 50 and above. The goal is to determine which method is more beneficial in reducing fall risk and enhancing quality of life.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are older adults aged 50 and above who live independently and have no recent history of lower limb injuries.
Not a fit: Patients with recent cardiac or neurological changes, inner ear problems, or those who have undergone surgery in the last six months may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved balance and reduced fall risk for older adults, enhancing their independence and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown varying success with balance training approaches, indicating potential for positive outcomes but also highlighting the need for further investigation.
