What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of different hypnosis techniques, specifically self-hypnosis by anchoring and conversational hypnosis, in reducing anxiety and pain for women undergoing breast macrobiopsies. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive one of the hypnosis methods or a combination of both prior to their procedure. The goal is to determine which approach is most effective in improving the patient experience during this anxiety-inducing examination. The study aims to provide insights into the best practices for managing patient discomfort and stress in a clinical setting.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 18 or older who are scheduled for a breast macrobiopsy and have no prior experience with hypnosis.

Not a fit: Patients with major hearing loss, identified mental disorders, or those who do not understand French may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved pain and anxiety management for women undergoing breast biopsies.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown the effectiveness of hypnosis in managing pain and anxiety, but this specific comparison of methods is novel.
