What this trial studies
This interventional study evaluates the effectiveness of scorpion antivenom alone compared to a combination of scorpion antivenom and prazosin in patients admitted to Sohag University Hospitals due to scorpion stings. Patients will be randomized into two groups: one receiving only antivenom and the other receiving both antivenom and prazosin. The study will monitor vital signs, clinical outcomes, and duration of hospital stay to assess the impact of the treatments. Proper first aid and supportive care will be provided to all participants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with a clinical diagnosis of scorpion sting admitted to Sohag University Hospitals.
Not a fit: Patients with other types of envenomation or poisoning will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve treatment outcomes and reduce mortality rates in patients suffering from scorpion stings.
How similar studies have performed: While the combination of antivenom and prazosin is a novel approach, previous studies have shown the effectiveness of antivenom in treating scorpion stings.
