Comparing robotic and assistant-controlled techniques for gastric cancer surgery
Clinical Outcomes of Full Robotic Instrumentation Versus Assistant Controlled Laparoscopic Instrumentatin in Robotic Distal Gastrectomy: Randomized Pilot Study

What this trial studies
This pilot study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of two surgical approaches for robotic distal gastrectomy: full robotic instrumentation versus assistant-controlled laparoscopic instrumentation. By analyzing the outcomes of these techniques, the study seeks to identify which method enhances surgical efficiency, reduces costs, and improves patient outcomes. The findings may provide valuable insights that could influence future surgical practices in treating gastric cancer.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults with confirmed gastric adenocarcinoma who are undergoing robotic radical distal gastrectomy and have an ASA score of 3 or below.
Not a fit: Patients under 19 years of age, those with stage IV gastric cancer, or those who have received preoperative chemotherapy or radiotherapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical techniques that enhance recovery and outcomes for patients with gastric cancer.
How similar studies have performed: While this study explores a specific comparison, similar approaches in robotic surgery have shown promise in enhancing surgical outcomes, suggesting potential for success.
