What this trial studies
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Rhinophototherapy against Intranasal Corticosteroids in treating allergic rhinitis. It will assess both subjective and objective outcomes, including nasal airflow and mucosal inflammation through tissue biopsies. Patients will be randomly assigned to receive either treatment and evaluated after two weeks. The study seeks to determine if phototherapy can reduce inflammation without causing mucosal damage, similar to the effects of corticosteroids.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and above with newly diagnosed allergic rhinitis confirmed by allergy testing.
Not a fit: Patients with severe nasal conditions, recent upper respiratory infections, or those on certain medications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a non-invasive treatment option for allergic rhinitis that minimizes mucosal damage.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using phototherapy is innovative, similar studies have not been widely conducted, making this a novel investigation.
