What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and urinary outcomes in patients who have undergone partial cystectomy compared to those who have had radical cystectomy. Patients will complete questionnaires to provide data on their experiences post-surgery, and their medical records will be reviewed for additional insights. The study aims to identify how various patient-specific characteristics influence these outcomes among the two groups. By comparing these cohorts, the study seeks to enhance understanding of the impacts of different surgical approaches on patient well-being.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients who have undergone partial cystectomy or are currently living with a radical cystectomy, specifically those registered in the Mayo Urology's cystectomy registry.

Not a fit: Patients who have had a subsequent radical cystectomy after a partial cystectomy will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into which surgical approach offers better quality of life and urinary function for bladder cancer patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored similar outcomes in bladder cancer surgeries, indicating a growing interest in understanding the comparative effectiveness of surgical options.
