What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effects of progressive clinical Pilates exercises on individuals with fibromyalgia, comparing group sessions led by a physiotherapist to home exercise programs. Participants aged 20-50 will be randomly assigned to either the exercise group or the home exercise group, both receiving the same Pilates program over six weeks. The program will consist of basic and advanced stabilization exercises, with assessments of pain levels, physical condition, functional status, psychosocial status, and quality of life conducted throughout the study. The physiotherapist will ensure proper execution of exercises and provide educational materials for the home group.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are sedentary individuals aged 20-50 diagnosed with fibromyalgia and experiencing moderate pain.
Not a fit: Patients with additional rheumatic diseases, those on certain medications, or individuals with other serious health conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve pain management and quality of life for patients with fibromyalgia.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with exercise interventions for fibromyalgia, suggesting this approach may be effective.
