What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of two physical therapy modalities, pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy and laser acupuncture, in treating stress urinary incontinence among adult women. The study will involve 60 participants who will receive either PEMF or laser therapy alongside pelvic floor muscle training. Researchers will assess improvements in pelvic floor muscle strength, severity of urine leakage, and overall quality of life. The goal is to determine which therapy is more effective in alleviating symptoms of stress urinary incontinence.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adult females aged 18-65 who experience stress urinary incontinence.
Not a fit: Patients who have had prior pelvic floor surgery, are pregnant, or have active urinary tract infections will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide women with more effective treatment options for managing stress urinary incontinence.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored physical therapy for urinary incontinence, the specific comparison of PEMF and laser therapy is relatively novel.
