What this trial studies
This study aims to compare the effects of pelvic floor exercises and Pilates on urinary incontinence in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Urinary incontinence is a common issue that can significantly impact the quality of life for these patients, leading to psychological and social challenges. The study will involve patients diagnosed with COPD and urinary incontinence, focusing on their stability and exercise tolerance. By evaluating the effectiveness of these two exercise modalities, the research seeks to identify the most beneficial approach for managing urinary incontinence in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged fifty and older who have stable moderate to severe COPD and are experiencing urinary incontinence.
Not a fit: Patients with recent gynecologic surgery, uncontrolled diabetes, or other significant health issues may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide effective non-invasive exercise interventions to improve urinary incontinence and overall quality of life for COPD patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on this specific comparison, similar studies have shown positive outcomes for exercise interventions in managing urinary incontinence.
