What this trial studies

This clinical trial is a randomized controlled trial that evaluates patient satisfaction and the health of abutment teeth in patients who have undergone hemi maxillectomy. Participants will be rehabilitated using two types of obturators: one made with laser polished CAD CAM technology and the other constructed using conventional methods. The study aims to determine which obturator type provides better outcomes in terms of patient comfort and dental health. By comparing these two approaches, the trial seeks to enhance rehabilitation strategies for maxillectomy patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged 30 to 60 years who have undergone hemi maxillectomy and have at least five natural teeth remaining.

Not a fit: Patients with cognitive impairments, heavy smokers, or those who have received radiotherapy are unlikely to benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved patient satisfaction and better dental health outcomes for individuals who have undergone maxillectomy.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on obturator types, this specific comparison of laser polished CAD CAM versus conventional obturators in maxillectomy patients is relatively novel.
