What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of two regional anesthesia techniques, the Quadratus Lumborum Block (QLB) and the Transverse Abdominis Plane Block (TAPB), against intravenous analgesics in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. A total of 128 patients will be included, with each group receiving a specific pain management approach before and during surgery. The aim is to assess postoperative pain levels and the need for morphine-derived painkillers. The interventions will be administered under ultrasound guidance to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-70 who are scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy and have an ASA physical status of I-III.

Not a fit: Patients with an ASA physical status above III, those under 18 or over 70 years old, or those who are reluctant to participate may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved pain management strategies for patients undergoing gallbladder surgery, reducing reliance on opioids.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar regional anesthesia techniques, indicating potential for success in this approach.
