Comparing oxygenation methods during bronchoscopy procedures

Comparison of Three Different Oxygenation Strategies Consisting of Nasal Cannula, Modified Nasopharyngeal Cannula and HFNO (High Flow Nasal Oxygen) in Bronchoscopy Procedures Under Sedation

What this trial studies

This study evaluates the safety of three different oxygenation strategies—nasal cannula, modified nasopharyngeal cannula, and high-flow nasal oxygen (HFNO)—in patients undergoing bronchoscopy under sedation. Patients will be assessed in an anesthesia clinic prior to the procedure, where informed consent will be obtained and demographic information recorded. The anesthesiologist will decide which oxygenation method to use based on the patient's needs, and various monitoring techniques will be employed during the procedure to ensure patient safety. The study aims to identify the most effective oxygenation strategy to enhance patient outcomes during bronchoscopy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include all patients scheduled for bronchoscopy who meet the inclusion criteria.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, have contraindications to anesthetic drugs, or are hemodynamically unstable will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve patient safety and comfort during bronchoscopy procedures.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on oxygenation strategies, this specific comparison in the context of bronchoscopy under sedation is relatively novel.
