What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of tele rehabilitation versus traditional outpatient rehabilitation for women who have undergone mastectomy due to breast cancer. Given the high prevalence of breast cancer in Pakistan and the increased reliance on telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic, this research aims to fill a gap in the literature regarding tele rehabilitation in this population. The study will assess shoulder functional independence and overall recovery in participants, utilizing the American Cancer Society's guidelines for rehabilitation. By implementing tele rehabilitation, the study seeks to reduce treatment costs and improve accessibility for patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 30 to 60 who have undergone simple total mastectomy for breast cancer and have access to a smartphone and the internet.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of metastatic breast cancer or other chronic pathologies that limit physical activity may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more accessible and cost-effective rehabilitation option for breast cancer survivors.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with tele rehabilitation approaches in various populations, indicating potential for effectiveness in breast cancer patients as well.
