What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to compare the clinical outcomes of two different materials used in root canal treatments: Ortho MTA (BioMTA®) cement and the conventional gutta-percha combined with AH Plus® bioceramic sealer. The study will involve patients aged 21 to 95 who require root canal treatment for infected teeth, with a focus on evaluating healing outcomes. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either treatment, and their progress will be monitored through follow-up assessments. The trial seeks to provide systematic evaluations of the effectiveness of Ortho MTA as a root filling material.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are medically healthy adults aged 21 to 95 with infected teeth requiring root canal treatment.

Not a fit: Patients under 21 years old, pregnant women, or those with autoimmune diseases or uncontrolled diabetes may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved healing outcomes for patients undergoing root canal treatments.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been comparisons of bioceramic materials in endodontics, the specific use of Ortho MTA cement in this context is novel and has not been systematically evaluated in prior studies.
