What this trial studies

This research evaluates the effects of oral motor facilitation technique (OMFT) versus traditional oral motor exercises on feeding and drooling difficulties in children with spastic cerebral palsy. The study will involve a randomized control trial design, including 12 children aged 3-12 who have been diagnosed with spastic CP and experience feeding challenges. Participants will be divided into two groups, one receiving OMFT and the other receiving traditional exercises, to assess improvements in their oral motor skills. The study aims to provide insights into effective interventions for enhancing the quality of life for these children.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 3-12 with spastic cerebral palsy and feeding difficulties.

Not a fit: Patients with other comorbidities, risk of aspiration, or those on tube feeding will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved feeding skills and reduced drooling in children with spastic cerebral palsy.

How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research in oral motor interventions, this specific comparative approach between OMFT and traditional exercises is relatively novel.
