What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effects of Omega-3 versus Vitamin D supplements in conjunction with non-surgical periodontal therapy for patients with Stage II Grade B periodontitis. Participants will receive either standard periodontal treatment alone, or the treatment combined with one of the supplements. The study will assess clinical outcomes such as clinical attachment loss, probing pocket depth, and bleeding index to determine the effectiveness of the adjunctive therapies. The trial aims to provide insights into how these supplements may enhance periodontal healing.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are healthy adults over 25 years old with Stage II Grade B periodontitis and specific clinical attachment loss.
Not a fit: Patients with systemic diseases affecting healing, previous periodontal therapy, or those on certain medications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve treatment outcomes for patients with periodontitis by identifying effective adjunctive therapies.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on the effects of Omega-3 and Vitamin D separately, this specific comparison in the context of periodontal therapy is relatively novel.

Exclusion Criteria: * • Patients taking Omega- 3 or Vitamin D as a nutritional supplement were excluded from the study * Smoking habits * Pregnant and lactating mothers * Patients who have been received periodontal surgery in the study area during the last 6 months.
